New kitchen for popular community hub.

A community hub in Loughborough will be cooking up a host of treats in their new kitchen thanks to a kind gesture.

Charnwood Borough Council's home improvements contractor Fortem offered to fit a new kitchen at the Marios Tinenti Centre. The work has been completed as a community focused project which Fortem committed to as part of the contract.

Cllr Leigh Harper-Davies, the Council's lead member for major contracts said: "I'm pleased Fortem have completed this community project the borough and I am sure users of the MTC appreciate the new kitchen."

XXXX fro Fortem said: "We were more than happy to offer our support for this project. It was clear to see how the centre's work has benefited residents. We hope their new kitchen wil enable them to hold even more events and activities."

The hub is based in the Bell Foundry estate and was opened by a local resident around 10 years ago. Between 80-100 people make use of the facility each month.

Lorna Hughes, hub co-ordinator , said: "We are absolutely thrilled with the new kitchen and we're so grateful to everyone involved in making this happen.

"It's going to make a huge difference to the centre, there's more storage space and the new layout means more people are able to access the kitchen at the same time."

The Council also supported the centre with a successful application to the East Midlans Airport Community Fund for the new kitchen appliances.

The centre will shortly be celebrating it's 10th anniversary.
